The article talks
about people who continually want to venture outside of their comfort zone,
have a lot of energy, want to explore and take chances. It tells of people who
want to make a difference in the world and inspire others. This, if not who I am, is who I aspire to become. I don’t
want to just meet people to be able to have references in the future, I
legitimately like to learn about people’s lives, it just interests
me. I’ve always been a good listener and can get people talking. I have a wide
range of interests and can find something they have in common with everyone. I’m
a ‘Jack of all trades and master of none’. I’ve always wished I was amazingly
talented at one thing but I realize now that maybe my talent is having a wide
variety of interests and being able to connect to other people through them.

Illumination Sensations
As
a first-timer to Illuminate Yaletown, and a newbie to the whole of the
Lower Mainland, I didn’t quite know what to expect. I attended on
Saturday, February 11th. Surfacing from the
Yaletown-Roundhouse station, I found myself emerging at Davie and
Mainland. The beautiful blue, purple and pink lamps greeted me as I made
my way to the street and turned onto Mainland. The first exhibit I came
across was the carved ice sculptures. From a poised princess to a
cascading pyramid of cubes, they were absolutely a sight to see!
Making
my merry way further down Mainland, what was I to happen across but an
animated light show! It was being projected on the side of an apartment
building in a repetitive sequence about 20 minutes long. The most
interesting part was how the windows of the building were incorporated
into the animation.
The
fire show was great. The troop called Radiant Heat was called in to
perform. Daryl Markiewicz, a member of Radiant Heat for 6 months, said
it was his favourite performance he has participated in yet! He loved
the DJ’s beats and the fact that the show took place in a good, central
location, where many people could come and enjoy it.
I
wish the event went on longer than just 2 days but I would definitely
go again next year. I look forward to learning more about Vancouver’s
culture and nightlife, so you’ll be hearing from me soon! Tabbi

Vancouver Fashion Showcase
Have you heard? Vancouver is having it's first semi-annual "Vancouver Fashion Showcase" on December 1st. It was created to showcase the local fashion community in
Vancouver. They are featuring the 30 top fashion retailers and boutiques in Vancouver, so buy some tickets and come check it out!
Blanket Drive
On December 10th, the Kwantlen Fashion students are going to be hosting the Blanket Drive, a follow up to the very successful Sandwich Drive. We are going to be collecting blankets at the Kwantlen Richmond campus and on November 29th at 5pm, we will be making blankets from polar fleece to give out (on the 10th) to the less fortunate.
If anyone wants to help out with this fantastic event, just shoot me an email at tabitha.swanson.design@gmail.com

The Sandwich Drive is something that us Fashion Students from Kwantlen put together to help the less fortunate. A big thanks goes to our supporters and those who came out to help!
